Congratulations Lolly. I agree it is an amazing experience. I was there when Mia was born and I will never forget it. Absolute magic.

Congratulations Lolly and Co!
I was there when my friend had her baby and decided(I was 18 at the time) I was going to be a midwife... then I fainted  Well it was hot in there! Never did get to be a midwife, my unnatural squeamishness(Im sure thats not a word  ) put a stop to that one.

I now have 15 nieces n nephews(on my side of the family alone) - or is it 16, cant remember - and Im hoping thats the last of them too - nightmare remembering birthdays etc!

Maybe one day i'll give it another go, definately hasnt put me off :D even after doing it myself 3 times, the whole thing amazes my and i end up completely in aww of the human body and how women deal with it! We are amazing creatures us ladies! :D

She seems pretty certain that this is the last one, but then she said that the last 3 times!

Did'nt get much of a sleep, had 3 hormonal girls going at it hammer and tongs!!! the 5 year old was the best behaved! she maid jewlery, bathed and fed her baby! :o

One of my favourite births was my cousin's grandson, who was baby number five. He was born at home because his eldest sister, who was nine, wanted to see a birth. She missed out on her sister's birth as the co-ordinator on Delivery Suite wouldn't allow her in the delivery room. So I fetched her in immediately after the birth and let her help me bath her new sister.

When her brother was born at home she was really supportive of her Mum. The baby was delivered with Mum on all fours and I can remember her saying in a loud and proud voice "It's a boy" as I passed him through to Mum. Child number two came up the stairs with towels that he had warmed in the microwave. Then all four of the new arrivals siblings were in the room, sitting on the bed with Mum and Dad to meet their new brother.

Talk about a family affair. It was even more special because they are my family too.

It is amazing, isn't it Lolly? And you know what? It still amazes me, every single time.

Oh Verity thats a lovely story!

Just what i wanted for my last one, but couldnt have as i had to be induced early

I was so proud of Samara and i was proud of me too  I think it is definately the vocation for me and i will definately pursue it once the children are older.

I cant imagine a more rewarding and satisfying job to do. I hope i feel like you do one day :D
