With the weather being a bit dull, I thought I'd see where my fellow Paphians spend their quality summer time? Have you got a favourite beach, if so, why is it a favourite?

My favourite is Lara Beach, simply because it's perfect. Proper sand, water you walk right into and a great place to have a game of cricket!!

Lara is one of our favourite places. We called our house Lara Vista because we look out over the Akamas towards Lara. When we go walking (Pete and Jackie - remember the walk before pud?) we stand and look at the hammerhead which is Lara. It never ceases to fill me with peace.

Thought I would have a go at uploading a picture, so I chose one of me and Jessie Houdini Dog on one of our favourite walks.

Fingers crossed I have done it right.

Ahhh! It's huge. Thought you said the hosting site would re-size it for a forum Pete. You lied! Please do your thing and reduce me to a more manageable size.

Verity,

It would take a bigger man than me to reduce you to a more manageable size  but I'll work my magic on your photo no problem

Hi Mike welcome to the forum..

Jean.
Konnos beach is one of the best beachs down the other end
of the Island, I used to go there every sunday (7-8 years ago)
If you look on picture above, where the rocks are sticking out the water , is a great area to snorkel, we saw loads of fantastic fish there..

Doesn't Fig Tree Bay look odd, I mean it's empty !
When I've been there you can't see the sand for people !
It is a lovely beach mind with the clearest water.

The beaches down at Happy Valley are good and quiet especially if you dont mind pebbles and the one throught he tunnel at the golf course/sailing club are good as well.

Hi all

I thought i would take this oppertunity to say hi and try to upload a couple of pics of our favourite beech. This is the beech by The Correllia
hotel, i'm not to sure of the name but it is the one past the main Coral bay beech.

The first taken in August from outside the Apapis resturant on our summer hols

Image

The Second from the other side of the bay in October, My wife and i had grabbed some breakfast from the bakers in Peyia then cycled down to the beech with our pasties and frappas

Fantastic!!!

Image

Well just wanted to say Hi, and if you have any get togethers in August may get to meet a few of you.

Lovely first post, David. We may have a Sunday lunch in August, as well as the Taverna Club. Just keep your eye open and see if you fancy joining us.

Good sand and lovely clear water enclosed safely between breakwaters, in the vicinity of the Laura Beach Hotel, Chlorakas. Favourite (along with Vardas Beach, Kissonerga; and Lady's Mile Beach, Akrotiri) if you've got little ones needing somewhere to splash and play.
Image

A breezy day putting some choppiness in the sea, by the old Limni jetty. This is probably not the best bit of this stretch of coast, but I'm sure there's a good bit somewhere hereabouts, with these lovely views across to the Akamas. I think I need a whole day to walk the whole beach from Polis to Pomos...
Image

Polis beach, by the Eucalyptus woods, looking towards the Akamas. True - it is not a favourite of mine, but it is a good beach for convenience if you're a camper (in the woods).
Image

Corallia Bay, with Hobiecat, banana boats, etc. Favourite for choice of fun water sports.

All these beach photos make me long for the summer when it is wonderful to float on the waves to keep cool.

I feel so lucky to have had the guts to make the big move from the UK. It is one achievement in life that is reaping rewards in spades.

OK, since I mentioned Lady's Mile Beach...
Our favourite for clear, shallow waters and gentle waves - ideal for toddlers.
And the chips at the restaurant are good, too!
However, autumn/winter storms can transform the beach with piles of seaweed - not such a pretty sight.

Image

Image
Regarding the shallowness: see the people top-right in this photo - how far they are out yet still only thigh-deep.

One of my fave views - the waves of the landscape tumbling down to meet the waves of the sea at the hammerhead at Lara;
from the environs of Narnia
