Hi
During all our trips to Cyprus I have never been able to find shoes,
being married to a shoeaholic  Ive been a fair number of shoe shops, almost causing accidents when he spots another shoe shop and we make an emergency stop :auto
And I only want a size 8
Also long trousers. (Cos Ive got long legs) Dont get dragged around as many clothes shops as shoe shops
Any one know where I can find them? or shall I fill half our container with shoes and trousers

Shoeless Marion :P

Hi Marion.

Snap!

I get my trousers from Mango or next as they do longer legs and for shoes, I have managed to get size 8 in Shoe Emporium, Next and quite a few of the shoe shops near where Marks & Sparks is in Paphos.

I also love going through to Limassol - loads of shoe shops and Zara do long length trousers. you'll be fine.

Snap for me too.

Shoes I am bringing with me and have bought lots of new trousers etc too.

Peacocks in the UK have started doing longer length trousers so not sure if they will do them at the one in paphos....if anyone knows it would be good to find out!!! :D

Hi Marion
If you're like me you'll spend the best part of the year in flip flops then you better start looking for a size 9... I was only a size 7 when I moved here and I now have to buy an 8!

I buy lots in UK - or ask family members to get them - flip flops are cheap to post!

I hate winter when I have to put proper shoes/boots on :(

Remember ladies there is always Ebay!!!

Lifesaver sometimes.

Agree with Piglet, flip flops are the only things most people can bear to wear in the heat.

Haven't been down to Peacocks so not sure about their sizes.

The problem I have is with tops, they never seem long enough and if you go the size up it looks ridiculously baggy and shapeless.

I tend to nick my sisters stuff when she comes over or trade with her depending on my mood! She's a shop-a-holic and goes mad in the shops before coming over and realises she'll not get the chance to wear it in Edinburgh!

My problem is not so much shoes (size 5) although some are too narrow. My problem is finding anything over a size 14!!!!! Especially swimsuits.

You are never "too long in the tooth". By the way they are new and are at cost only.

My wife and daughter love nothing better than going over to Limassol for a spot of shoe or sandal shopping. They reckon the choice there beats, hands down, anything they find in the UK or USA. Lloyd

Try M&S Tina for swimwear. If they haven't got the size in they can order it for you. (obviously if they do the size you want).

What about Next as well. If I was you bring as many as you can over. They dont seem to last long over here. Every time I go back to the U.K. I stock up on swimwear.

My thoughts exactly Molly. After just 4 weeks in Cyprus last year one of mine disintegrated!!!! I am not really a great lover of exercise, but I do adore swimming so the constant attck by salt and chlorine, not to mention the sun, has a drastic effect on them. I am stocking up now, but it is a bit early for some shops yet.

Don't the Cypriot women ever get to a size 16!!!!!

My jeans size in UK 10-12

My jeans size in Cypriot manufactured - xtra large! :?

If someone opened a shop for real size women down here on east coast they would make a fortune.

Its an age thing in Protaras/Ayia Napa in the season as well - I spend 8 months every year surrounded by size zero twenty-somethings dressed in not a lot. Its a relief when winter comes around and I can get away with wearing something a bit more forgiving.

How do other real-sized women cope when the temperatures rise?

We have a new shop just opened in Paphos (well, just before Christmas) - it's on Butcher Boy road, and is called Schamce. The lady who runs it is lovely, and it is all plus size clothes! She has some gorgeous things in, from casual to the really formal - I am waiting to see her summer range.

We also have Essence (which is Evans really), based in E & S supermarket, so we have quite a good choice for us "larger ladies" in Paphos.

It seems I will have to make a list of shops to visit then. It will give me an excuse for a spot of retail therapy!!!

Yep Pete, I'm having a closing down sale, all prices slashed. Lots of sizes from 8 - 26 so suitable for larger ladies and the smaller ones suitable for teenagers also.

I'm open to end of March, Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays but I will be continuing with markets and fairs after we close so you can still get all your UK high street labels.

Flippin' 'eck Karen. It took me 12 months to locate you and come into your shop and now you are closing. If I was so dumb about finding your shop how will I ever find your market stalls?

At least I bought something when I finally found you.

Now if you were a shopping person Verity you would be able to sniff out clothes at 100 paces like I do! I know shoppings not your thing but quite appropriately my stall is at the bar of the Wednesday market?? :pint

I'm still in the shop till the end of March though, got loads of stuff to get rid of.
