Our last 2 bunches of bananas have blacken really quickly while still on the plant without going yellow first. Time wise it happen in about 4 to 6 weeks. We had previously bunches about 3 last which stayed on the plant for about 16 weeks and ripen and really yummy.

There seem to be nothing else wrong with the plants and no signs of insects etc.

Any ideas? Too much/not enough water? More fertilizer? Well we've not put any on at all but the leaves look loving.

I've tried searching the internet on this one and couldn't find anything.

Ali, I cant help as Im a novice gardener, however Im sure an expert will be along soon and show you the error of your ways.

Have you tried growing coconuts as an alternative. Theyre a little more difficult to pick but Im sure they will provide Gotanatog with hours of great therapy.

I hope this isn't a silly question but have you covered the bananas in a blue plastic bag? I don't know anything about growing them only eating but you do see them covered up and i wonder why? Maybe you have done this already. :greetings

If you go to the Annivia garden centre (Agapinoros St), they have a really really grumpy auld geezer sits in a portacabin in the back yard all day, but he is a wealth of knowledge about all things that spring from the ground.

Take a leaf or flower with you and explain the problem. He will put you on the right track..

Dont tell him I sent you as he knows Im a garden numpty and anyone of my level should be exterminated.
