Just curios, looking at the virus figures in Cyprus you have only had 917 cases and 17 deaths which is pretty remarkable compared to here in the UK which has 246,406 cases and 34,796 deaths.
Over here it gives the figures by county also by the four Country's, does anyone know what your figures are by district for example Peyia or Paphos.

Thanks for this Dave, in my opinion the authorities in Cyprus have nailed it, well done to them as our lot over here have not, I think we all could learn lessons from the Cypriot Government.

PS- keep up the good work supplying the forum with good sensible information.

Aside from this thread being in the wrong section, I just did some quick maths.

UK population is 66.7 million, Cyprus is 1.17 million.

If you take the deaths in Cyprus at 17, divide it by 1.17 and multiply it by 66.7 it gives you the number of UK deaths if the death rate across the population was the same as in Cyprus.

That figure is 969!

That means that you are 36 times more likely to die of coronavirus in the UK that you are in Cyprus.

Cyprus ain't so bad!

Effsie, why is this in the wrong section? the thread is about Cyprus figures, the only reason why I mentioned the UK is to highlight how Cyprus is dealing with the issue better than the UK, I was just curios as to how each region figures stacked up, I am sure if this is in the wrong section Dave (MAD) would have moved for me.

Paphos Corona Virus News is the new group for coronavirus posts. Dave has moved a number and will presumably move this one, unless the rules have changed.

Not sure about those figures

In the papers back in April it was saying that 3 had the virus in Peyia

It,s like in the uk and the rest of the world....all figures given out are wildly inaccurate!

As hardly any testing was done in the beginning

Yet people with friends with the virus ...they where all friends....confirmed that at least 9 people back in April had had the virus in Peyia
And 2 had sadly died

2 of the people with the virus...had had it for 4 weeks before they where tested positive and where still testing positive for weeks afterwards

I think that some of the stories are " wildly inaccurate" too ( But they do tell a 'good tale', don't they ? ). ;)

I would suggest the figures stated were as accurate as they had when they published them in April
The next time they publish, I am sure they will be different

Probably right on the figures MAD

Though I think world wide they are completely out
Not through malice...just out because of the way they have been counted

It all happened so quickly that I doubt the true figures will every truly be known

I know for a fact that my grandson is not down on the uk figures though he flew back from Spain with the virus

My sister in the uk ...who lives miles away from my grandson by the way and had had no contact....has just been checked for the virus and for antibodies ( she works front line) she showed up with antibodies.... and shows that she must have had the covid virus at some point....but it must have been so mild that she never knew that she had had it

This is all good news ...because it means that more people have had it than the figures suggest ...so more people have recovered...and more people than we know have had a very mild form of the covid virus.

When your friend tested positive did she self isolate at home or go into a proper place?

Hello again Migmog
Did she have to go to a special place for testing to get the negative result?
