Pete I'll give you one thing.....Yes Martin is from the North East.
And if you are impressed by his knowledge then you truly must be clueless.
Gary, your Mackem Mate !

Don't remember saying I was impressed by his knowledge, I did mention he knows his heritage about the TOON & he's clued up on all the stats but being a true Geordie, he should be

As for me being clueless, maybe I am but it would only be in knowing that we're a far better team than yours will ever be, as I don't see you up there fighting to win the EPL in your first few years as the TOON did on there promotion to the big league :D :D oh sorry, that's me being arrogant again, maybe I'm more geordie (with a small 'g') than I thought

Pete mate I throw out some bait and always get a catch !
Didn't you say something about Martin knowing more than me ?
How could you know that ? Maybe he does, I haven't got a prob with that but I think it would depend on what we were talking about. I got the impression you were in awe of his knowledge.
As for his heritage, well he's blessed cos he's from God's country, same as me, yes County Durham, just ask Marj. but he's as much a true geordie ( your words not mine) as you are.
He's a traitor. He's gone over to the Black Side. County Durham's team are Sunderland AFC.
Somewhere in his adolescent life he realised that newcastle were pulling Man Utd, Leeds, Liverpool et al and his local team Sunderland were pulling Barnsley Southend and Plymouth.
He chose Sid James purely to watch the stars who the visitors brought up the A1.
He knows nowt about the barren years I have put up with and very probably will leave the fusiliers and be a born again Durham Light Infantry Man once he realises the tide has turned.
As for being a far better team than we'll ever be Pete you need to explain that cos I just don't get it.
Gary :goodpost

You've tried this bait before, and I've just ignored it, but I can't allow this kind of slur to go unanswered!

So for the record, I was born in Newcastle, son of a proud father also born in Newcastle. He started taking me to games at fortress SJP as soon as I could walk and had a season ticket from the age of 5, until I left the country a few years back (although I did share it with my brother the last few years) Have seen hundreds of games home and away in that time, including several Euroepan away trips to places like Barcelona and Milan that Gary can only imagine in his most fevered dreams.

Didn't miss any of the barren years pre KK, either the first, second or third coming, even though I lived 100 miles down the road for 10 years. Still don't seem to have any memory of the mighty Mags losing a match in Sunderland though! :D

So there - now back into your hole you mackem twerp! :iamwin

Yes I did say this & I stand by what I said, as I was saying in relation to the TOON, nothing else, so if you read into that something different, then I can't help that

As it seems from Martins reply, you don't actually know that much about him either, as I knew he was born in Newcastle & not County Durham as you stated  Unlike me & Boog's, he's a true fan, as he supports his home team & I can only class myself as a geordie (with a small 'g') because of that but that doesn't stop being a true fan either :D

If anyone is throwing out bait to make a catch, I think its us because you always bite mate, its just knowing how to twitch that line enough to get you going

I think I spelt it out quite clearly as to why we're a far better team than you are, you just have look at your EPL record so far & compare it to ours :D

Roll on next weeks :greetings

His County Durham references are a poor wind-up attempt based on the fact I grew up in Washington, which is actually in Tyne & Wear and enjoys the privilege of a Newcastle post code. It also means I grew up around quite a few mackems, so I'm used to dealing with his sort! :D

I was actually born into a "mixed" family, as my Mam's half are from Sunderland, and my Grandad on that side was a season ticket holder at Roker Park, but fortunately she saw the light and switched to the toon when they got married - made for some lively family get-togethers when I was a kid! They got one back on us though when one of my sisters married a mackem and swapped sides for an easy life - it's to my eternal chagrin that I have a nephew and 2 nieces being brought up on the dark side! :(

My brother-in-law is actually a canny lad considering - he actually came in the toon end with me, my Dad and my brother for the home leg of the infamous 1990 play-off match as he couldn't get a ticket for the away bit, and I managed to avoid "outing" him when their second hit the net - was tempting mind!

Anyway, Gary's not doing bad for someone who wasn't going to talk to me anymore a few posts back! :D

Zzzzzzzzzzz oh yes Martin I said I wasn't gonna talk to you about that particular subject. Anyway I can't even remember what subject it was.
You two love me being on here.
Martin I'd be worried if I were you about Pete. He seems completely in awe of you.Do your partners know of your mutual love for one another ?
I bet he has your picture on the wall of his spare bedroom.
Now Martin I couldn't give a flying **** about where you came from, once you moved to live in Washington you should have seen the light and switched immediately.
Washington is within the City boundaries therefore you were living in Sunderland.
I won't stoop to your level and call you names either, twerp indeed.

Not love mate, just respect for supporting a great footballing team, someting you're unable to say

Personally I don't give a toss where he was born or breed, he supports the TOON & that's good enough for me as a plackie geordie

Who are ya ? Where are ya?
Hey you geordies (small g) there's the small matter of the Wear/Tyne Derby this satda.
Why aren't you on here making your mouths go, like you usually are ?
Do you think if we don't talk about it then it won't happen ? Ha Ha !
Come On boys get behind your team. Look, I'll give you something to shout about. Kenwyne is not gonna play. We don't need him and are saving him for Stoke away where we will need his physical presence.
If we play like we did yesterday we'll hammer you. This might rank alongside the play offs in 90, or Quinny's magnificent header mmmmm memories !
Gary

Now Cmon boys it's a while since we've seen anything black and white on here.
I've just been looking at the thread leading up to our last match at Sid James. It seems a bit more friendly than this one, I guess that's cos you presumed you'd win that one while you expect to lose this one. 8-)
When we lost that one, I was straight on here, telling it as I saw it. Hope you lot are too.
By the way Pete, are you gonna be watching this one or will you be going to someone's party ?
Plastic Mag indeed.
Gary
By the way when you reply you've got three posts to reply to.

How can you say that, you drew against Fulham, have you been on the wine gums again

I told you the other day Gary, I'm taking it 1 game at a time, so after playing Citey tonight, I'll make it very clear as how I think the game will go between us & you'll not like the answer but that's not gonna be a shock is it

I know one thing, we don't have Owen for tonight & Martins isn't a defo, so it may be Duff & Ameobi up front for us against Citey  so hopefully our defence can shut Robinho out & stop them from scorring because its sure as hell we wont be able to

 It's my magnetic personality - you'll feel the same once you've met me!

I'm very interested to see how we play tonight before finalising my derby day prediction - a couple of weeks back I wouldn't have backed us to get a result against Gateshead reserves, but JFK seems to have at least instilled a bit of fight in the team, so we'll see how we go against a very strong City side....

Watched the 2nd half of the mackems against Fulham and they played OK without pulling up any trees, but Fulham were absolutely rotten. Cisse is the clear dangerman, whole team is set up around getting the ball quickly out to him down the side of the centre backs - we could do with Stevie Taylor getting into him early doors, see how much he still fancies it after that....

Having Spiderman, Martins and Beye back is huge for us, and we've got Joey Barton playing for the reserves against the smogs tomorrow too, with a view to throwing him straight back into the action on Saturday.....

Early derby day odds from Betfair:

mackems: 2.3
Newcastle: 3.5
Draw: 3.5

Having watched our spirited, battling performance against Man City I can now confidently announce that we'll get at least a draw in the derby.

Probably 1-1 (your goal will be a penalty, we've conceded 5 already this season!) but if Owen plays we might nick it.

Well after seeing us play last night with 10 men, I think we need to get someone sent off in the first 5 mins, maybe Taylor taking out Cissi out side the box, that way we'll battle like we did last night & you'll lose your own chance of scoring, so we'll win

On a seriousl note, if you thought that you'll hammer us because of the way you played against Fulham, then we're going to trounce you the way we played last night against Citey :D :D

Me prediction is: Mackems 1 - 3 Toon

There are times when I do not know whether to take you serious Pete.
If you think Cisse is our only chance of scoring, let's hope FJK does as well.
What have you heard about Owen ? I am gonna assume he will not be fit. If he is fit he may score.
I'm gonna assume he won't be and after watching the full 90 mins of you lot last night I am confident we will win. The goal will have done Amoeba the world of good but he's not fit. On paper you have a strong team but we are coming good.
I am not basing my prediction on the Fulham game alone when we should have scored 5, but I have seen steady progress since the Boro game.
Whave had no luck at all in our last 3 games and that is due to change. We also need 3 points.
There's alot of foreigners in both teams so let's hope all the ones that don't know what this means to the region are on your team.
I've said it before, it's not your team I'm worried about, it's mine freezing and not doing it. If we play like we can and like we have been we will win.
I'm not gonna predict a score.
By the way, we played Man Citeh off the park and somehow lost 0-3. Believe me the way they played last night, we would have whupped them.
You'll see on Satday mate !
Gary

Looks like Owen is definitely out, Spiderman is 50/50 and we'll find out tomorrow about Beye. Martins and Fasheobi up front again then.

Barton came through the reserves match last night (beat the smogs 4-1 :D ) so is in line for a start.

Heard the match will come too soon for Kenwyne Jones?

I will be glad if Owen does not play. Duff appeared on both wings on Monday didn't he ?
He could cause Chimbonda some probs. Chimbonda's forte is going forward not defending. Bardsley might get a game for that reason.
Amoeba will have confidence after his goal.
Keane usually surprises us with his selection so I hope he doesn't pick Yorke or Miller. Our midfield should be similar to Malbranque,Whitehead,Richardson Reid, though Diouf has been saying today he's ready and wants to play ( Big of him!)
Don't think Jones will start. He'll be rusty as apparently was Barton for you last night.
I hope Barton plays to be honest, he'll get sent off !
Today I am feeling like this.
Confident we have the better team, I am.
Confident we can win, I am.
Confident we are playing the better football, I am.
Confident we will win, I am not. This is the Derby and anything can happen.
Gary

Glad to see you're confident Gary but it still doesn't mean you're going to win

If you're so confident, why not put a score to the game, I've already said 3-1 to the TOON, what do you think :?

I think you'll get the backlash from the Citey game, as we should have won that but for the 12th man Citey had on the pitch

As for Ameobi's goal, if he'd it that true like a decent striker, Hart would have saved it, the only reason it went in was because he fluffed it :manic I don't like the guy & I think he's completely useless as a striker, he does nothing apart from give the ball away, get caught offside or fouls players, he's crap & should have been gievn away in January

My team for this weekends derby is:

Given,
Beye (Geremi), Taylor, Collocini, Bassong,
Spider, Butt, Gutherie, Geremi (if not in defence),
Duff, Martins,

Subs: Harper, Cacapa, Zog, Carroll, Enrique, Xisco,

There's 16 of us travelling together. We are going in The Porterfield in the City Centre at 10.30am.We are meeting another 5 in there and will walk across the Wear Bridge at about 11.45am.
In the ground for noonish one or two pints and a Balti pie then out into the Concourse with our Bulls Bellows !!
Most of us are sitting together so should be great. We'll do our stuff, hope the lads do theirs.
I often wish I could join Pete and CF in the G and D but not this Satda.
The party after we win will be fantastic, after all, as some are keen to point out, we've waited long enough.
Haway Haway Haway !!!
Gary
Some mates of mine are meeting at 8.00am having bacon sarnies and cans at that time and getting the mini bus over at 9am !

Btw, I was talking about this weeks game numbnuts but it seems you'd forgotten that you said that same statement last time we played, in fact you'll probably keep saying until you do eventually beat us

As for 'Stada' I'll be getting up & going down the G&D to watch us whoop you again, then home to chill out in the knowledge that you'll be crying in your soup :smilielol

Sounds like a decent day out Gary - just hope you're crying in your beer afterwards!

I'll be starting my pre-match routine with a quiet night Friday - we're going out to a posh do down the Coral Beach Hotel Friday night but I've volunteered to drive to make sure I'm fully match fit for the big day...

Saturday will be an early lunch (something substantial like a fry-up to get a good lining down!) then down the George nice and early to get a couple of pre-match straighteners in - the Paphos Geordie mafia will be out in force for this one I'm sure, so should be a decent amtosphere.

Post match will involve considerably more beer, either celebratory or drowning sorrows depending on the result (I will be counting a draw as a moral victory, denying the pre-match favourites on their own patch!) and dinner out later on if I'm still in a fit state to visit a respectable eating establishment - nice big kebab otherwise!

It seems there's a lot of geordies coming over by metro. Lots more than last season when loads used the free buses. There's talk of a few city centre pubs being targeted by them. I don't know which ones, just hope we aren't in them !
Looks like Kenwyne isn't playing. That's the noises both him and Keane are making. No more news at present.
Seems Barton is going to be shining example to British Youth ! We'll see.
If any player owed his club it's Joey Barton. Hope he repays you sometime after Satda !
Gary

Sharp intakes of breath across wearside as the realisation sinks in that by the next derby we'll probably have Ronaldo, Messi and Ronaldinho, plus a cryogenically restored Alan Shearer playing for us....

The pressure to break that 28 year record is ratcheted up another notch.....

No Martin we are used to you claiming you are after every superstar known to man or every superstar known to man wants to sign for you and play for free.
I think us Mackems need to concentrate on our own right now. That's what I'm gonna do.
Gary

Good News for the geordies. Lads on SMB went to training and Mackems first team were using 4 5 1.
Keane had Diouf on the right and MURPHY !!! on the left.
Only Cisse up front.
That won't work. Even if Diouf and the plank that is Murphy get the crosses in who the **** is gonna get on the end of them ?
We need Chopra in and two up front to get amongst you.
Murphy and especially Diouf do not deserve to be on the pitch but that's Keane for you, he'll be thinking of the plaudits he'll get if it comes off and when after 75 mins he realises it isn't working the plaudits he may get when he sends Reid and Chopra/Healey on.
Not so Happy now
Off to work Gary
Hope someone gets on the SMB today after training and says they've changed it.

Gary, that could just be a ploy to put us off our guard but I doubt it as JK is way too long in the tooth to fall for anything like that untill the day of the match :D

Trouble in paradise? Surely you're not doubting Mr Keane are you?? Be surprised if Chopra doesn't play, although Diouf tends to do well against us too.

Nicky Butt doubtful with a foot injury, which makes a start for Barton more likely - think he'll start on the bench otherwise. If Butt is OK, I think we'll line up:

Given

Beye Taylor Coloccini Bassong

Gutierrez Butt Guthrie Duff

Ameobi Martins

Subs: Harper, Enrique, Cacapa, Geremi, N'Zogbia, Barton, Xisco

Decent bech for the first time this season, but no Owen means I'm sticking to my 1-1 prediction, and a moral victory for the toon!

Pete,
I have access to as many photos as you but considered it a bit Naff to post them on here.
Yours are on but I certainly will not be looking at them.
Let's try to keep this friendly Pete. I find those photos repulsive and because I thought you would not like to see any of Quinn Philips Sorensen when we've won, I deceided it would be a mistake to put them on here. Wish you had thought the same.
Gary

This may well be my last post before the game, I don't know, anything can happen in a Derby but we are a better team than you and we will win.

Sorry Pete. I presumed it was you. I thought Martin had more class than that, Obviously not.
As for the Under 18's enjoy cos it's the big boys tomorrow.
I feel after the naff contributions above that the banter has become too unsavoury and I don't intend to partake anymore ( Not until after we've spanked you!)
I would ask you Pete as a true friend, to smack Martin in the chops when you see him tomorrow.
Thank You Gary
BTW After we win tomorrow don't answer the phone at the Gand D.

It seems even if we win today, we'd need to beat you by at least 3 goals to go above you in the league but that shouldn't be a problem me think

Let me get this in before Gary gets on board

Good game for you, nowt special from us, cracking free kick sealed your win, 1st one in 28 years at your place, don't get too use to it as it won't be the same next year

As all the pundits have said, its the best time to take advantage of the TOON, you've beatin us when we're at our lowest ebb, that's the only time, mark my words :D

:clap :clap

I thought it was the management that was at its lowest ebb the " players " are still the same are they not -- more excuses as far as I can see. Marj
